Option 1
Bottle Jack Air Purging Sequence
Lift Carriage until it clears highest pin hole (make sure pin is out).
Place pin through hole. Steel pin is on a chain next to holes.
Slowly lower carriage until it is supported on metal pin.
Remove jack extender shaft from bottle jack by pressing down on it until chain is loose.
Push Ram down until it is fully rested. This is because the ram penetrates 40mm inside the Scottsdale jack extender shaft while in normal operating mode.
Pump handle 8-10 full strokes.
Turn release valve clockwise to close valve.
Pump handle until the ram reaches maximum height and continue to pump several times to remove any trapped air in the ram.
Carefully and slowly pinch oil filler plug to release any trapped air.
Turn release valve counter clockwise one full turn and lower ram to the lowest position. Use force if necessary.
Turn release valve clockwise to closed position and check for proper pump action. It may be necessary to perform the above more than once to ensure air is completely evacuated.
Option 2
Bottle Jack Air Purging sequence using Gravity
Lift Carriage until it clears highest pin hole (make sure pin is out).
Place pin through hole. Steel pin is on a chain next to holes.
Slowly lower carriage until it is supported on metal pin.
Remove jack extender shaft from bottle jack by pressing down on it until chain is loose.
Remove 4x Hold down mounts and place Bottle Jack on a work bench or on the floor.
Turn release valve counter clockwise one full turn open.
Pump handle 8-10 full strokes.
Turn release valve clockwise to close valve and pump handle until the ram reaches maximum height and continue to pump several times to maximise pressure.
While ram is fully extended.
Turn bottle jack upside down then turn release valve counter clockwise to open valve while applying pressure to force the ram down to resting position
Check for proper pump action. The above steps may have to be repeated before all the air is released
